Alisa Ahmann was just a teenager when her father passed away suddenly at the age of 49, leaving a profound effect on her. “I realized how precious life was,” says the German-born beauty. “And how important it is to embrace it.” Ahmann, whose mother, a nurse, had instilled in her the importance of nutrition, went on to study biology at school. “I was fascinated with how the body functions and what effects it,” she says. She also took up modeling, an endeavor she had previously been too nervous to pursue. Since then she has opened a Calvin Klein runway show, and appeared on numerous magazine covers; and despite the long hours, erratic meals, and persistent jet-lag that accompanies the job, she’s learned to maintain a healthy lifestyle. She hopes to one day become a wellness coach. In the meantime, she offers the following advise: drink lots of water, read One-Moment Meditation, take an aerial yoga class and, perhaps most importantly, don’t be afraid of change. “So many people are unhappy, but they don’t do anything about it,” she says. “You have to trust the process. Whatever you do is going to be fine.”
