The Thriving Recluse | Grace Wales Bonner

The designer Grace Wales Bonner has been in the countryside in Northumberland reading books and exploring ideas of community, nature, spirituality and meditation.

"I’ve been particularly drawn to the text of Hazrat Inayat Khan, an Indian Sufi writer and sound practitioner. He was the founder of the Sufi Order in the West in London, 1914. His message of divine unity focused on the themes of love, harmony and beauty. He has a beautiful book about connecting to nature titled Nature Meditations.”
“I’ve been reconnecting with Burkinabé writer Malidoma Patrice Somé and his writings about the healing wisdom of Africa. Looking at ideas of community and how that can be applied to the West.”

“I’ve also been reading the books The Collected Poems and Plays by Ranbindranath Tagore and The Teachings of Rumi by Andrew Harvey and enjoying the interchange between them.”
