“It embodies the sensual elegance of Brazil: The astonishing power of nature, the riches of the Amazon and its people, along with Francisco’s exceptional aesthetic sensibility—sculptural minimalism as an art form. I referenced traditional gua sha tools and drew inspiration from Brazilian elements including the bow quiver of the Indigenous peoples of the Amazon and the flow of the river itself.”

The Form

“Utilizing the traditional lost-wax technique, I hand sculpted a striking sculptural silhouette of the tool from wax. Its sleek design embodies simplicity, featuring smooth lines and an ergonomic grip that feels natural in my hands. The elongated, flat form features gently rounded edges to provide massage for both the face and body. The design encourages users to explore their bodies, fostering a deeper understanding of self-care and well-being. The intention was for it to become more than just a tool; but a ritualistic object that invites mindfulness and presence.”

Your Ritual

Relieve muscle tension in the neck and shoulders by applying (or asking someone else to apply) desired pressure and quickly "scraping" the edge of the tool back and forth over the muscle. Next, move to the face, slowly sweeping from the center outwards. To reduce puffiness under the eyes, store the Tool in the refrigerator before use and gently hold the flat tip to the skin. Apply Kaya Firming Body Oil or Creme Para O Corpo Body Cream to provide slip.
