Our favorite creative couples sound off on why beauty rituals should be shared with the people you love.

The makeup artist Frankie Boyd (you may know him from Adele’s Vogue cover) admits he’s a bit shy when it comes to being in front of the camera. But his husband, Jefferson Santiago, a model and creative with vibrant eyebrows and undulating curls from São Luis? Not so much. “My husband is also skincare obsessed and loves experimenting with my treasure trove of skincare, masks and tools,” says Boyd. “I’m sorry to say that I’m very minimal and low maintenance when it comes to my skincare routine.” Of course, that doesn’t mean the beauty expert doesn’t have a makeup trick or two up his sleeve. Here, Boyd talks about the importance of sharing beauty secrets and why he wakes up early in the morning—even if he doesn’t have anywhere to go.

At COSTA BRAZIL, we believe sacred beauty rituals should be shared with the people you love.

My relationship with makeup was born out of a curiosity of beauty and being surrounded by talented people that enjoyed sharing beauty secrets. I met my closest friends while building a career in beauty and sharing information. I love meeting new clients because it’s always an opportunity to learn a new technique and look inside someone else’s beauty bag.

How would you describe your approach to selfcare? Be honest.

Minimal and relaxed.

Has your outlook on selfcare changed at all in the last year or so?

As a freelancer, I don’t get a lot of control over my schedule—things change at a moment’s notice. The past two years have taught me to prioritize taking care of myself, spending time with loved ones and taking real time off to recharge. I started getting up earlier in the morning even if I’m not working. Giving myself extra time to time to meditate and prepare myself to connect with the day and my purpose.

Tell us about a selfcare/beauty ritual that was passed down to you, either through a close friend or family member.

My older sister is eyelash obsessed and really takes her time applying mascara and combing out the clumps with a fine metal brush. It’s fascinating to watch and explains why I’m a lash perfectionist.

Why did you pick the partner you did for this campaign? (Don’t be afraid to get all gushy.)

I’m sorry to say that I’m very minimal and low maintenance when it comes to my skincare routine. My husband on the other hand is skincare obsessed and loves experimenting with my treasure trove of skincare, masks and tools.

Lymphatic drainage massage is something that removes excess toxins from your body. It’s also just meant to make you feel less stressed and look lifted. How did you feel after using our Massage Tool alongside our other products?

At first touch, the new massager feels luxuriously heavy and cool. I like to leave mine in the refrigerator for an extra cooling effect. At the end of my skincare routine I use Kaya Anti-Aging Oil and the massage tool to de puff and lift my face.

The tool is easy to use and effortlessly follows the contours of the face and body. After I use the tool, I can notice a visible difference in the puffiness I often wake up with. The massager pulls in the contours under my cheeks and even minimizes my double chin. When used daily I notice an even longer lasting effect.
